Headache & Migraine Physiotherapist

Build Expertise. Change Lives. Join a Specialised Team.

  • Location: World Trade Centre, Docklands, VIC
  • Employment Type: Part-time : 34 hours/week - 8.5 hours/day - 4 day week
  • Reports To: Clinic Director
  • Start Date: ASAP

Many of the people who attend Melbourne Headache Centre have been living with their symptoms for years. They may have seen multiple specialists, tried a range of treatments and, in some cases, have begun to lose confidence that things can improve.

Since opening in 2012, Melbourne Headache Centre has been dedicated primarily to the Watson Headache® Approach, making it the first clinic in Melbourne to focus solely on this specialised method of assessment and treatment. Over that time, we have built a reputation for providing thorough, patient-centred care for people with migraine, persistent headaches, dizziness, vestibular disorders, post-concussion symptoms and other complex neurological conditions. Our team is actively involved in clinical research and education, including co-authoring the first published study investigating manual therapy for vestibular migraine.

As a clinician at Melbourne Headache Centre, you’ll work with patients who are often seeking a more specialised approach after exhausting other treatment options. Using the Watson Headache® Approach and a highly individualised treatment process, you’ll help patients better understand their condition and work towards meaningful improvements in their symptoms and quality of life.

This role offers a unique combination of hands-on treatment, advanced clinical problem-solving, ongoing professional development, and potential for involvement in research developing practice-based evidence. You’ll work with complex presentations that require thoughtful assessment and reasoning, while developing expertise in a highly specialised area of physiotherapy.

If you’re looking for a role where you can continue to grow as a clinician while making a genuine impact on the people you treat, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're seeking a passionate physiotherapist with strong manual therapy skills and a desire to develop expertise in one of the most specialised areas of physiotherapy.

This is a hands-on clinical role where you'll work closely with patients experiencing complex and often life-altering conditions. You'll be supported through comprehensive training, mentoring and professional development to help you become an expert in headache, migraine and dizziness management.

You will:

  • Assess and treat patients using the Watson Headache® Approach and other evidence-informed techniques
  • Develop individualised treatment plans focused on meaningful, lasting outcomes
  • Monitor progress through structured follow-up and outcome measures
  • Work collaboratively within a highly specialised multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in ongoing learning, mentoring and professional development

Why This Role Is Different

Help Patients Who Have Run Out of Options

Many of our patients arrive after years of unsuccessful treatment and uncertainty. You’ll work with people who are actively seeking a more specialised approach and play an important role in helping them better understand and manage their condition.

Become an Expert in a Growing Clinical Niche

Headache, migraine and dizziness disorders affect millions of people, yet very few physiotherapists develop advanced expertise in this area. We provide a unique pathway to become highly skilled in a field that is both clinically fascinating and deeply rewarding.

Learn From Industry Leaders

You’ll receive mentoring and support from some of Australia’s most experienced headache and migraine clinicians, including Watson Headache® Certified Practitioners actively involved in research, education, and advancing the profession. Our Clinical Director is currently the only Watson Headache® Level 4 Practitioner in Melbourne, and lead author of the only clinical research into the Watson Headache® Approach, providing a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most highly trained clinicians in this specialised field.

Quality Over Quantity

We believe exceptional outcomes come from exceptional care. Our model prioritises clinical excellence, longer consultations and manageable caseloads, allowing you to focus on delivering meaningful results rather than simply moving patients through a schedule.

Enjoy Genuine Work-Life Balance

  • No early mornings
  • No late evenings
  • 34-hour week over 4 days
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Structured mentoring and career development
  • Quality over quantity approach to caseload

About Melbourne Headache Centre

Founded in 2012, Melbourne Headache Centre was the first clinic in Melbourne dedicated exclusively to the Watson Headache® Approach. For more than a decade, we have focused on the assessment and treatment of upper cervical spine dysfunction and its role in:

  • Migraine and headache disorders
  • Vestibular migraine and dizziness conditions
  • Persistent post-concussion symptoms
  • Chronic nausea and complex neurological presentations

We are actively involved in research and education. Our team co-authored the first published study investigating manual therapy for vestibular migraine in collaboration with Dr Dean Watson and the University of South Australia. Our pursuit of developing practice-based evidence continues with an ongoing research collaboration with a Melbourne-based university, providing a potential pathway for masters and PhD aspirants.

Patients travel from across Australia, and internationally, to access our specialised services.
